Computer Disaster

Hi All, I won't be posting for a few weeks as my Macbook has died on me!!!!!!! Luckily I had backed up all my images so lost very little. It is a reminder to all of us that this can happen to anyone and at anytime. So WARNING make back ups NOW!!!! Fortunately for me the problem is with the graphics card and Apple are aware that this particular card has caused problems for many people. So they will replace it free of charge as long as your computer is under 4 years old. Just made it so they have it now and it will take around three weeks before  I get it back. Had to borrow to write this post. In a way this is a good reminder that our photos can be lost if good back up procedures are neglected. Take care all see you in Three weeks or so.....

I'm glad that Apple is taking care of it for you. I look forward to seeing you back on a regular basis.

Good that you had all your photos backed up. That's a very critical thing to do and a lot of people ignore. Good luck on your repairs!

Sorry about your computer. Every time I take photos, I immediately put them on my Western Digital Passport external hard drive. Not the originals though - I should probably put them on there too!

So sorry to hear this. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Make two copies of your originals. I burn them on DVD and file them away, and I also have a portable storage disc (they are not very expensive). God forbid something happens to your back-up too (discs can scratch), it's good to have a second back up. Pictures are definitively worth the trouble.
