The Yellowhammer

This little bird is a Yellowhammer it's numbers have decreased alarmingly over the last 25 years probably due to modern farming practices. They are now on the red list of endangered birds which is a real shame. Found on hedgerows and bushes they feed on grain and seed.
Fortunately for me we have quite a few living on the hedges that run alongside the canal, they seem quite used to people so you are able to get near for decent photographic opportunities. Such a pretty little bird!

Lovely photo of a pretty little bird. I enjoy seeing the many different birds you have on your side of the pond.

What a beautiful little bird. It resembles a bird here called a pine warbler.

Thanks you for the info you left on my site re: the Egyptian goddess!
